___
Julien Hébert, a pioneer in the emergence of design in Quebec, left his mark on the fields of furniture, spatial planning, exhibition design, and graphic design, and was a mentor to many designers, including Michel Dallaire. Many of his works are famous, and some are landmarks in public spaces: the Expo 67 logo, the ceiling of the National Arts Centre in Ottawa, Canada's furniture and space at Expo 67, and the murals in the Place-Saint-Henri metro station and the Wilfrid-Pelletier hall. This comprehensive work traces the career of the "father of Quebec design" while addressing the contemporary repercussions of his work. It is enriched with numerous photographs, illustrations, drawings, and archival documents. Under the pen of Martin Racine, an entire era, marked by the beginnings of design and the quest for beautiful objects in Quebec, comes to life.
