Once this gaze is well cast, she transcribes onto her canvases or her tablet the most abrupt springs, the most astonishing accomplishments of these buildings, furniture and decorations with which humanity has filled its living spaces. But between the two, the time spent in the brain makes the beast churn. And what is traced on the canvas is not devoid of subjectivity. Maaike Canne never fails, through the brilliance of colors, the juxtaposition of shapes or the incongruity of a perspective, to add a little piece of herself. Then we are offered the dialogue between the art of meticulous reproduction and personal impulses.
