It is with a pictorial approach that Xavier discovers the fascinating materiality of ceramics and the richness of its technical universe. The practice of mosaic allows him to reconcile the object with the image. Over time, the artist has developed a personal engagement with these materials and each piece presents itself as the results of research or study on them. For him, the challenge therefore consists of decompartmentalizing the codes of traditional mosaic, while honoring the traditions of mosaic throughout history.
