Once this gaze is well cast, she transcribes onto her canvases or her tablet the most abrupt springs, the most astonishing accomplishments of these buildings, furniture, and decorations with which humanity has filled its living spaces. But between the two, the time spent in the brain makes the beast churning. And what is traced on the canvas is not devoid of subjectivity. Maaike Canne never fails, through the brilliance of colors, the juxtaposition of shapes, or the incongruity of a perspective, to add a little piece of herself. Then, before our eyes, we are offered the dialogue between the art of meticulous reproduction and personal impulses.
