___
Earthenware piece made in Montreal by Cybèle B. Pilon and containing Gaspésie schist. The naturally occurring iron in the earth gives this unique piece a dark reddish-brown hue. The colorful designs are water-carved or painted on raw clay before firing and enhanced with 22k gold. The exterior of the piece is unglazed, and the finger-hammered interior is covered with a white tin glaze for a unique play of textures. The edge of the lip is meticulously glazed with a transparent glaze. This sturdy bowl is ideal for everyday household use.

Cybèle B. Pilon's motifs are the result of infinite variations on a single theme. She draws inspiration from Quebec's material heritage (quilts, visual archives, built heritage, popular objects, etc.) and transposes the motifs found on her contemporary ceramics.
